How to Create a Gravatar Profile
- Visit the Gravatar Website: Open any web browser on your computer and go to the Gravatar website, which is www.gravatar.com.
- Create or Sign In to WordPress.com Account: Gravatar is a service provided by WordPress.com, so you need a WordPress.com account to use it. If you already have a WordPress.com account, click "Sign In" and enter your username and password. If you don't have an account, click on "Create Your Own Gravatar" and you will be directed to a sign-up page on WordPress.com.
- Sign Up for a New Account (if needed): If you are creating a new account, fill in the required information, including your email address, username, and password. Once you've filled everything out, click "Sign Up." A confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided.
- Verify Your Email Address: Open the email from WordPress.com and click on the verification link to confirm your account. This step is important because Gravatar uses your confirmed email address to link your avatar to you.
- Sign In to Gravatar: Once your email address is verified, go back to www.gravatar.com and sign in with your WordPress.com credentials.
- Add a New Image: After you've signed in, click on "Add a new image" located at the top of the page.
- Choose Image Source: You will be prompted to choose where your image comes from. You can choose from your computer's hard drive, an image from the internet, a webcam, or a previously uploaded image.
- Upload Image: Follow the prompts to upload your chosen image.
- Crop Your Image: After your image is uploaded, Gravatar will give you the opportunity to crop it. Adjust the crop as needed and when you are satisfied, click "Crop and Finish."
- Choose a Rating: Choose an appropriate rating for your image (G, PG, R, X). This rating system helps ensure that your Gravatar is displayed appropriately across different types of websites.
- Associate Image with Email: You'll be asked to confirm the emails you want to be associated with this Gravatar. Once you've done this, your Gravatar will appear next to any comments or posts you make with these email addresses on any Gravatar-enabled site.
- And that's it! Your Gravatar profile is now set up and your image will appear on Gravatar-enabled sites. Remember, you can always sign in to Gravatar to change your image or add more email addresses.
